The Product

In the WindLift Pumping System, a kite is harnessed to a reciprocating pump and efficiently harvests the wind for a wide variety of pumping needs.  The kit will consist of a reciprocating pump, spring-loaded winches, a turret and mounting plate, tether lines, pulleys, installation hardware, and a large traction kite (sized to the wind regime).

Once we have our beta-prototype thoroughly tested, and ready for manufacture we will include details on ordering, set-up, and maintenance here. Until then…. you’ll just have to wait. Leave a comment here with some contact information if you want to get in the front of the line for your own system. More details on price and a power output chart (canopy area vs. windspeed) will be coming soon!

  1. after calm a small (“toy scale”) helium lifter kite can lift a windcatcher surface to re-launch a big power kite, provided you have automated control OR a cheap sled kite lifting a high L/D pitching foil to do the pump function, without special control, at high efficiency. No human needed to operate ~7/24.

what kite power needs is a business umbrella like, say, WindLift to gather all the DIY appropriate-tech prototype scale scnemes in a collaborative push.

more later on Portland OR kitebot/autokite group & the open-source APE KiteMotor…

  3. Hello Robert,

I got a note that you had some interest in our alternative energy report and wanted to reach out to you about your innovation and intellectual property research work. I’m curious how you are going about technology analysis and presenting this to your investors and partenrs. We would love to help you with that process.

    Much thanks,
